Privacy Policy

The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) uses personal information to enable us to carry out services to support service children in education.  The aim of this service is to provide the best possible educational support to children, by ensuring education professionals understand the issues Service children in Wales may face.  The project is a Welsh Local Government Association project initially funded by the MOD Education Support Fund and funded by Welsh Government.

The personal data processed as part of these services includes:

  1. Photographs of Service families, children and service personnel
     
  2. Case studies of experiences provided
     
  3. Quotes from the Service Community - organisations, charities, school staff, serving personnel and their families, children, service community and personnel
     
  4. Films with experiences discussed - organisations, charities, school staff, serving personnel and their families, children, service community and personnel
     
  5. Pictures drawn by children of Service personnel
     
  6. Outcomes from surveys

 

This information is either provided to us directly or via other public authorities in line with their data sharing which will be stipulated within their privacy notices.

The UK’s third generation of data protection law replaces the Data Protection Act 1998. The Data Protection Act 2018 accepts the standards and obligations set by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, where GDPR allows, makes specific provisions relevant to the UK.

We will use personal information provided only for purposes consistent with the reason it was provided to WLGA.  All information is retained in line with WLGA’s Data retention policies.
Information we process is processed under the following Schedule(s):

Article 6 condition

Consent – Art 6(1)(a)

 

Processing is necessary for the purpose of the Legitimate Interests pursue by the data controller – Art 6(1)(f)


There may be occasions when we are legally obliged to share information with other public sector agencies.  Further details of this will be outlined within the WLGA’s Data Protection Policies.
