There are children of Armed Forces personnel living and attending school in every local authority in Wales, not just in areas close to Armed Forces bases.

As a result of their parent’s frequent moves/postings and deployment, Service Children can be affected at school and at home in a variety of ways.

The SSCE Cymru conference is aimed at schools, education professionals, local authorities and support organisations across Wales who are working with or want to understand more about Armed Forces children and their families.

Themes include: supporting Service Children with ALN/SEN, sharing good practice, digital storytelling and an exhibition area.

Confirmed speakers include:

Dr Mark Llewellyn from University of South Wales and Brett Dugan from Arad Research to launch the findings of the 'Research on experience of Service families with children with Additional Learning Needs in Wales'

SNAP Cymru - speaking about the support available to children in Wales with Special Education Needs and Additional Learning Needs

RAF Families Federation - to provide information on the experiences and challenges Service families and Service Children face

Children from a number of schools speaking about their experiences and the support they have received.

Speaking about the support their organisations can offer:

Little Troopers

Directorate of Children and Young People (DCYP)

Children's Education Advisory Services (CEAS)

Service Children's Progression (SCiP) Alliance

Royal British Legion and Military Kids Club (MKC).
